Alugue Aqui (Rent Here), a web portal related to things that people can either rent or lease, was born out of my unsucessfull search for mechanisms that would allow me to rent a vacant apartment that I left back in Brazil. After being up and running for a few months, the site reached an average of 8,000 daily sessions. The web site was written in Perl and used a MySQL database.
... and by the way the apartment got rented ;)
